Welcome to the Darwin Seafarers Centre

Our location is approx 150m from the ship berths at East Arm Wharf. The Darwin Port Welfare Committee (DPWC) is a voluntary body dedicated to the provision of services in the Port of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, at the East Arm Port precinct, to all Seafarers visiting the Port.

With the financial assistance from the International Transport Federation, the Darwin Port and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the DPWC established and upgraded a Seafarers Centre within the Port precinct, providing recreational facilities, and free wi-fi access for those with personal laptops & phones in a relaxing environment. We have 2 rooms, one with the Canteen and the second is a lounge for relaxing, both rooms have Television sets.

Re-Opened

The Seafarers Centre reopened in 2013 following it's relocation due to Port expansion.

All Seafarers are welcome to use the centre during their visit to Darwin and we will do our utmost to assist you in any way we can. An ITF Inspector in association with the Maritime Union of Australia and other "Seafarer Links" can be contacted thro the centre, please see the "LINKS" tab above.
A "Mission to Seafarers" representative and Chaplin may be contacted thro the centre and mobile phone cards are usually available at the centre.

Port Safety Regulations prohibit the sale and consumption of Alcohol anywhere at East Arm Port and the Seafarers Centre is a Smoke free zone in conformity with Health Regulations, we appreciate your understanding of these regulations by not smoking in the Centre buildings. Thank You Darwin Port.

The Chairman and DPW Committee would like to give a big "Thank You" to Darwin Port-Landbridge for their ongoing support to the Seafarers Centre and proceeds from the "Annual DP Golf Day"

Seafarer Sponsorship

In April 2022, we have sponsored and supported a Seafarer Covid Vaccination Project while visiting ships are alongside at East Arm wharf. This will provide protection to seafarers against severe illness and death from COVID-19 and to minimise any restriction for repatriation back to their home country. This project is a collaboration between shipping agents, volunteers from Mission to Seafarers (M2S), Darwin Port (DP), NT Health and Darwin Port Welfare Committee (DPWC). A big thanks to the MtS volunteers and Darwin Port.
